When is the best time to prune my trees?

In general, the most ideal time to prune your trees is in the dormant season or just before bud break in early spring. This allows the tree proper recovery time before a growth flush.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes, we accept most credit and debit cards including Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. We would prefer check or cash, but whatever is most convenient for you is best.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes! We offer free estimates in all of Washoe County, Fernley, and Carson City. If you live outside these areas feel free to contact us and we will still make it out to you for a fair price. (775) 525-0513

My tree is getting too tall. Can it be lowered?

This is a tricky question we get often. Firstly, if the tree is at a semi-mature, to mature stage in life. Urban Woodland Tree Care LLC will not reduce the height on any tree that age unless, it has previously been pollarded, or reduced in the past. With most fruit trees and trees that have been lowered at an adolescent age it is acceptable to maintain this practice as long as the tree is healthy. However, topping a tree is an unethical approach to maintaining trees, and we will have to recommend other solutions.

What do you do with the wood and woodchips?

Our woodchips are typically unloaded to any resident who is in need of mulch. We deliver free woodchips in Reno & Sparks. We also allow certain local residents to pick up wood that has been processed during the course of the job, with the permission of the client. If you are interested in wood or woodchips. Please give us a call at (775) 525-0513.

How much do you charge?

This depends on many factors. No job is the same and each one has its own variables. We base each job on factors such as: accessibility, material volume, risk factor, tree size, tree health, and time. We typically don’t charge a flat per hour rate, but we do estimate how long the job will take considering the above mentioned factors.

How much and how often should I water my tree?

This depends on several factors, but it really depends on your soil texture. You should water sandy soils with smaller quantities of water applied more frequently than with clay/silt soils and you can water silt/clay soils less frequently than sandy soils without leaching water.

To determine “how much,” water your trees need you must determine tree diameter x five minutes = total watering time.
